New Yorkers spent $1.54bn on internet sports betting in February

In February, New Yorkers spent a total of $1.54 billion (£1.17 billion/€1.42 billion) on internet sports betting, with gross gaming income from online gambling reaching $91.7 million. From January 31 to February 27, which includes the Super Bowl, the amount wagered was 5.5 percent less than the $1.63 billion wagered in the first 23 days of the state's legal market.

New York legalized online sports betting on January 8, and the total wagered in the first 23 days easily surpassed the US monthly handle record of $1.30 billion set by New Jersey in October of last year.

In February, gross gaming revenue from sports betting was 18.9 percent lower than $113.0m in the opening period for the state's legal market.

February revenue includes numbers from Caesars Sportsbook, FanDuel, DraftKings, and Rush Street Interactive, all of which began operations on opening day in New York and BetMGM, which went online on January 17 PointsBet on January 25 and WynnBet on February 2. FanDuel Group, which Flutter Entertainment owns, topped the way in handling, processing $568.3 million in bets and generating $26.6 million in gross gaming income over the four weeks.
DraftKings came in second with a $390.0m handle and a state-leading $31.8m revenue.

Caesars collected $328.4 million in bets and made $22.9 million in income, while BetMGM got $154.4 million in bets and made $4.1 million in revenue.

PointsBet took $52.5 million in bets and made $3.3 million in income, while Rush Street Interactive took $37.2 million in bets and made $2.2 million in revenue. WynnBet, which debuted in the New York market on the first day of the reporting period, accepted $4.7 million in bets and earned $731,043 in revenue.
Genting Group-owned Resorts World became the newest operator to enter New York's mobile sports betting market last week, unveiling its new Resorts WorldBET app in the state. Despite being authorized to do so, Bally's has yet to enter.
Last Monday, New York State Senator Joseph Addabbo filed legislation to legalize internet gambling in the state.
